I can see how, in one of the big county bubbles, this idea might be superficially appealing. But the biggest threat to the long term success of cricket in this country is the declining level of grass roots participation. This is already compounded by the lack of free-to-air TV exposure. To take a significant chunk of the top level domestic game abroad would be incredibly shortsighted. Warwicks may not have an outground, but the packed crowds and festival atmospheres from Blackpool to Kibworth, York to Neath, perform a real service to cricket present and future. To play these games in empty stadia in the UAE instead would be to take the soul of English to somewhere out of sight and shoot it in the head.
