Cotton made three Championship appearances for the club this summer after impressing in the second XI
Northamptonshire have announced that bowler Ben Cotton has signed a one-year deal with the club.
Cotton - who parted ways with Derbyshire before the 2018 season - moved to Northants on a trial basis which yielded three Championship starts having impressed in the second XI.
The 25-year-old claimed 10 wickets at 10.10 in those fixtures including a career-best 5 for 48 against Sussex.
Head coach David Ripley said: “There’s no doubt Ben is very hungry for another opportunity in the county game.
“He showed his quality in the three first-team matches he played for us after having a fine season in the second XI – as a skilful seam bowler, useful lower-order batsman, slip catcher and captain on occasions.
“He’ll be spending the early part of the UK winter working on his fitness before getting stuck in with us in January.”
