The Kent captain was forced to leave the field after diving in an attempt to prevent a four on the boundary
England were handed an injury worry after Sam Billings left the field holding his shoulder in Pune while fielding during the first ODI in Pune.
The Kent captain was patrolling the boundary when he dived in an attempt to prevent a four.
That he was eventually able to stand up and walk off after being seen to by the tourists’ medical team was reassuring.
It was later confirmed that he had "sprained his collar bone joint" and that the concern was not related to the shoulder injury he suffered in 2019 while playing for Kent against Glamorgan, which ultimately ruled him out of contention for the last World Cup.
An ECB statement added: "It's sore, he's currently receiving treatment and we are hopeful he will be able to bat later."
He is due to represent Delhi Capitals in this year’s Indian Premier League as well, while this three-match ODI series has been seen as an opportunity for him to both establish himself in Eoin Morgan’s 50-over outfit and push for a place in England’s T20I side.
Liam Livingstone, who replaced him in the field, took a catch to dismiss Shreyas Iyer almost immediately.
