Buttler smashed 162 not out from just 70 balls against the Dutch as England broke their own record total in a men's one-day international, finishing on 498 for 4 from their 50 overs
Eoin Morgan described Jos Buttler as playing "in a world of his own" after the England keeper's flashbang hundred against the Netherlands at Amstelveen.
Buttler smashed 162 not out from just 70 balls against the Dutch as England broke their own record total in a men's one-day international, finishing on 498 for 4 from their 50 overs.
He hit 14 sixes and combined with Dawid Malan and Liam Livingstone to take 200 runs from the final 74 deliveries of the innings.
The Netherlands were never likely to get close in the chase, and eventually lost by 232 runs.
Morgan said: "Jos came in and just played in a world of his own, like he has been for the last year or two years. It's incredible to watch.

"It's not something that we ever get sick of, it's not something that we take for granted, it is amazing cricket. It is the reason he is probably the best white-ball cricketer in the world at the moment."
Despite the nature of the victory, and the size of his team's total at a small ground on a good pitch, Morgan has warned against supporters expecting a repeat in the second game of the series on Sunday.
"There's a lot of hard work to be done," he said. "We don't take days like this for granted at all. We gave ourselves the right to give it a nudge today, it doesn't mean that on Sunday we'll be up against it.
"I want to stand a lot stiller and try to hit sixes. That was the plan today"

"We've worked incredibly hard to earn days like today, and we won't take them for granted."
Buttler, who brought his Indian Premier League form to Amsterdam after accumulating 863 runs for Rajasthan Royals in April and May, credited a long break from cricket after the miserable Ashes tour of Australia for reinvigorating him.
The IPL couldn't have gone better for me, I absolutely loved it and it gave me a hell of a lot of confidence.

"Coming here I was feeling in good touch, it was a really good wicket and it gave ourselves a licence to attack.
"I had two months of no cricket after the Ashes and I thought that was really refreshing, I enjoyed that time. I turned up at the IPL with a lot of freshness, which is key to having the energy and drive, and getting the best out of yourself."
The VRA ground was too small for Buttler, who repeatedly cleared the stands and hospitality tents, leading to frantic searches for the ball in the perimeter undergrowth.
"I'm trying to back my six-hitting a lot more than I have in the last one or two years," he said.
