England are fretting over the fitness of Reece Topley after the left-arm seamer suffered an ankle injury ahead of the start of their men's T20 World Cup campaign.
The Surrey quick rolled his left ankle during a fielding drill before the warm-up win over Pakistan at The Gabba on Monday (October 17).
He sat out the match, a six-wicket victory with 26 balls remaining, and will be assessed this week ahead of the clash with Afghanistan in their first Group 1 match in Perth on Saturday (October 22).
Liam Dawson, Richard Gleeson and Tymal Mills have travelled to Australia as injury reserves.
Topley, who has played 22 T20Is, was expected to be a central figure in England's pace attack during the competition.
With 17 wickets, he is England's leading T20I wicket-taker in 2022.
The 28-year-old has endured his fair share of injury problems down the years, including a horror run of stress fractures to his back which put his career under serious threat.
