Melbourne Renegades have picked up Eve Jones for the upcoming Women's Big Bash League.

The uncapped 29-year-old allrounder has enjoyed a fine English domestic season.

For Central Sparks, Jones finished as the leading run-scorer in the Charlotte Edwards Cup (276 runs at 55.20) and is the second-highest in the 50-over Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy (299 at 42.71).

In the women's Hundred for Birmingham Phoenix she cracked 233 runs at a strike rate of 118.27 - a haul only beaten by three women.

Jones becomes the first overseas player confirmed to represent the Renegades during the seventh edition of the WBBL, which gets underway on October 14.

"Playing in the WBBL is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time and I’m really excited to have that opportunity," she said.

“I’ve watched the Big Bash on the TV for a number of years now. It looks like a fantastic competition – it’s a big stage, there are world-class players and there’s so much support behind it.

“I can’t wait to meet all the girls and give it a crack.”

Head coach Simon Helmot added: "She adds to the strength of our batting group, provides a left-arm bowling option and brings leadership experience.

"Eve has had an exceptional domestic summer in the UK, where she has performed consistently and compiled an enormous amount of runs.

"We know she will enter the WBBL full of confidence and hope she can continue that form with the Renegades."
