Pat Cummins' Indian Premier League season has been cut short by injury.

Cummins has flown home to Sydney to begin his recovery from a minor hip problem, with the expectation he will be available for Australia to face Sri Lanka in June.

The Aussie Test captain took seven wickets for Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2022 IPL, and made 63 runs - 56 of which came in one remarkable innings against Mumbai Indians.

Cummins equalled the record for the fastest half-century in the competition's history, reaching the landmark in 14 deliveries.

KKR, however, have not found rhythm and look likely to miss out on the play-offs.

Cummins, therefore, has left the Knight Riders camp early in order to rest up ahead of his international duty.
