The Rajasthan Royals and England seamer will not travel to India for the tournament as his recovery from a long-term elbow injury continues
Jofra Archer has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League.
The Rajasthan Royals seamer, named tournament MVP in 2020, will remain home to continue his recovery from a long-term elbow injury.
Additionally, the period of quarantine the 26-year-old would have to undergo upon his arrival in India was also a factor
Archer, already involved in several bio-secure bubbles in the Covid-era, would be forced to self-isolate for eight days before joining up with his teammates.
As well as extending his Royals' absence - he has already missed four group matches - it would also disrupt his rehabilitation which will now continue at home.
India has also been placed on the UK travel 'red-list' meaning all arrivals have to quarantine in a hotel for 10 days.
He has been upping his recovery from a long-term elbow problem at Hove and will return to full training with Sussex next week.
In March, he underwent surgery on his right hand to remove a fragment of glass suffered after he dropped a tropical fish tank in his bath.
It is hoped that Archer could return to action in the next fortnight for Sussex second XI and be available for the County Championship in mid-May.
England are back in action when they host New Zealand in a two-Test series at Lord's (June 2-5) and Edgbaston (June 10-14).
