The Rajasthan Royals left-arm seamer says players fee "privileged" to still be competing in the eight-team tournament as the pandemic rages on
Rajasthan Royals seamer Jaydev Unadkat has become the latest Indian Premier League player to donate towards the Covid-19 relief effort in India.
The 29-year-old will give 10 per cent of his salary for the competition towards "providing essential medical resources".
Unadkat's gesture mirrors that of Punjab Kings batter Nicholas Pooran. Kolkata Knight Riders quick Pat Cummins has also given $50,000 to the PM Cares fund.
Meanwhile, Royals have donated 7.5 crore and Kings have pledged to provide oxygen concentrators amid a devastating second wave of infections.
Retained by Royals for the 14th edition of the IPL, Unadkat was picked up for 3 crore ahead of the 2020 tournament after twice being released by the franchise. He has also represented KKR (twice), Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Daredevils and Rising Pune Supergiants.

"Our country is going through a lot of distress and for that matter, I know how privileged we are to be in this position to play cricket," he said in a Twitter video.
"I also know how painful a personal loss can be and worrying I can be to watch your close friends fighting for their lives. I have been through both.
"I am not saying it is right or wrong to play cricket at the moment but it is difficult to stay away from family and friends in this situation.
"This game brings a much-needed distraction in these uncertain times for a lot of people I know and it brings joy to many as well. My heart goes out to those affected at this time. Please stay strong."
