Four teams – Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Rajasthan Royals – are scheduled to play eight matches in the capital from April 28 to May 18
The Indian Premier League will continue to stage matches in Delhi despite rising Covid-19 cases in the capital.
On April 22, the city recorded more than 300 Covid deaths and 26,000 new cases and has a shortage of hospital beds and oxygen supplies.
Eight matches are due to be played in the capital from April 28 to May 18, with the four teams involved – Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Rajasthan Royals – scheduled to arrive from April 24.
However, the Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA), who are responsible for the Feroz Shah Kotla ground, are not planning on relocating the matches.
Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, DDCA president, Rohan Jaitley, said: "The bubble is absolutely intact. If I am not part of the bubble, I can't meet anybody [inside it]. It is absolutely safe.
"There is a health and safety protocol that is already in place where teams move around in bubbles, they stay in bubbles, practice happens in a bubble, and any and every person who comes in contact is part of the bubble. There is no one who is outside the bubble."
