The Cricketer takes a look at the next fixture in the 2022 Indian Premier League season
Delhi Capitals take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League.
The match will be played on Thursday, May 5 with the first ball will be bowled at 3:30pm local time (11am GMT).
It will be held at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
Delhi Capital have been consistent in their inconsistency this season. Their last five matches read: loss, win, loss, win, loss. While Delhi’s batters are coming into some form – most notably skipper Rishabh Pant, David Warner, and Rovman Powell – their bowling has been a problem: Mustafizur Rahman and Kuldeep Yadav have gone the distance this season.
By comparison, Sunrisers have lost their last two having been on a five-game winning streak. A win for Kane Williamson’s charges will see them leapfrog Rajasthan Royals and sit comfortably in the qualification places. On the other hand, a win for DC will bring them back into the qualification mix, ahead of Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and SRH.
With the exception of Bhuvi Kumar, SRH’s strong bowling attack got taken apart by CSK in their last game. While Umran Malik has eye-catching pace, his economy rate needs work. An over-reliance on Aiden Markram’s part-time off-spin and T Natarajan’s drop off in form is also a concern.
For Pant’s side, Warner is quietly having yet another excellent IPL season. An average of 44 and strike rate of 156 makes him one of the best batters in the competition – not that that will come as a surprise to many.

Axar Patel (BCCI)
With Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran coming into form, their middle overs battle with DC’s spin twins, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav, is definitely one to watch. Kuldeep matches up well with Pooran, while Axar is an excellent challenge for Markram. Pant’s captaincy will be tested to its limits in trying to keep his bowlers bowling against the right batters because it will be raining sixes if he gets it wrong.

The bookies make Delhi Capitals favourites for this match with 10/11 odds. Sunrisers are evens (1/1) to win tomorrow.
With SRH’s recent woes, it would be easy to say Delhi are favourites for this match, but we have a sneaky suspicion Williamson’s men will win this tight match. Expect bat to dominate ball in this one with both bowling attacks low on confidence.
