The Cricketer takes a look at the next fixture in the 2022 Indian Premier League season
Delhi Capitals take on Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League.
The match will be played on Thursday, April 28 with the first ball will be bowled at 7:30pm local time (3:30pm GMT).
It will be held at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Delhi Capitals have been consistent in their inconsistency this season. Their last five matches read: loss, win, loss, win, loss.
Capitals lost a high scoring encounter with the Rajasthan Royals on Friday (April 22) by 15 runs, with Jos Buttler playing another masterful innings to notch his third hundred of the IPL season.
Controversy over a close waist-high no-ball decision in the last over of the DC chase threatened to derail the match, with DC coaching staff striding onto the pitch after the batting side felt they were harshly treated.
While Delhi’s batters are coming into some form – most notably skipper Rishabh Pant, David Warner, and Rovman Powell – their bowling has been a problem: Mustafizur Rahman and Kuldeep Yadav have gone the distance this season.
After a good start for KKR, winning three of their first four matches, Shreyas Iyer’s team have now lost four on the bounce.
However, while they were comfortably beaten by Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Capitals in the reverse fixture between this two, their last couple of matches saw the Knight Riders lose close matches, by less than 10 runs in each.
Last time out, Andre Russell almost rescued his side after a top-order collapse saw them fall to 34 for 4. The West Indian’s feast or famine season has seen him generally bowl better than his usual destructive batting. This has made KKR’s bowling attack a formidable one, with Russell joining countryman Narine, Southee, Umesh Yadav, and Chakravarthy as the options to Iyer’s disposal.

This match will be decided on whether Delhi’s comparatively weak bowling attack can do damage to KKR’s top order in the same way Gujarat Titans did in their last game.
DC’s strong batting should make this a high scoring affair, so keep an eye on Pant and Powell – fireworks are likely when those two are at the crease.

The bookies make Delhi Capitals favourites for this match with 10/11 odds. KKR are evens (1/1) to win tomorrow.
The Capitals should win this match but expect it to be a closely fought affair. KKR are low on confidence and will need the experience of their overseas players if they are to stop the current run of defeats.
