The 31-year-old was dropped for the clashes with Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals, with replacement Virat Singh failing to make an impression
Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner has questioned the decision to drop Manish Pandey from the XI for the last two IPL matches
Pandey had recorded scores of 61, 38 and two in the first three games before being left out against Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals.
Replacement Virat Singh was not required to bat in the nine-wicket win over Kings but made just four from 14 balls in a super over defeat to Capitals.
Warner made reference to the call in his post-match interview, a decision he clearly disagreed with.
"It was a harsh call in my opinion," said the Australia batter. "But at the end of the day, it is a decision of the selectors to do that."
The Sunrisers backroom team is led by director of cricket Tom Moody, head coach Trevor Bayliss and assistant Brad Haddin.
After a tied game was decided by a super over, the speed of Singh's innings on a tough pitch in Chennai made all the difference in the final evaluation.
"You can't discredit Virat," added Warner. "He's a very good player and on this surface, not getting too much time out there, it's very difficult.
"They [the Capitals bowlers] bowled fantastic through the middle and made it challenging for us."
