Bangladesh Test series in Sri Lanka postponed again after quarantine disagreement

SLC said the visiting squad must self-isolate for 14 days upon their arrival ahead of the three tests, leading to another delay

Bangladesh have pulled out of the rescheduled Test series in Sri Lanka after refusing to agree to quarantine protocols.

SLC want the squad to self-isolate in a hotel for 14 days upon arrival due to the spread of COVID-19 in Bangladesh.

The BCB wanted that reduced to seven days to allow their players, who have not featured in any competitive cricket since the pandemic hit, to fully prepare for the matches.

"Any tourist who is entering Sri Lanka has to abide by this rule," said BCB president Nazmul Hassan.

"They [the SLC] have told us that they couldn't do anything about this point. 

"We have informed them that we have to reschedule the tour to a time when things will improve."

Bangladesh had planned to depart for Sri Lanka on September 27, allowing them just under a month to isolate and begin their preparation.

The quarantine period was initially set to be a week before Sri Lanka quickly extended the demand.

Sri Lanka and Bangladesh were due to meet in three matches as part of the World Test Championship in July before the series, like many of the international cricket calendar, was postponed.

Tests were due to take place between October 23-27 before two further clashes in November at venues which had yet to be confirmed.
