Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been ruled out of the rest of the Indian Premier League after the India and Sunrisers Hyderbad quick suffered a thigh injury.

The 30-year-old picked up a thigh problem against Chennai Super Kings and was forced off the field, leading to him missing the clash with Mumbai Indians.

Prithvi Raj Yarra, who played twice for Kolkata Knight Riders last term, and been called up as his replacement.

Yarra, who has been with the Sunrisers squad as a net bowler and faces no quarantine period, has limited experience at senior level, having played just 11 first-class matches for Andhra, as well as nine List A games and three T20s.

The severity of Kumar's injury has not yet been revealed, but it has been deemed sufficient to withdraw him from the tournament.

No stranger to injury problems, Kumar would be expected to be involved in India's upcoming tour to Australia which is due to start next month.

Sunrisers have already lost Mitchell Marsh due to injury in their opening game, with West Indies captain Jason Holder called up as his replacement.
