New Zealand opener Martin Guptill is the latest international star to be announced as an "icon" signing for the Euro T20 Slam.

The 32-year-old, who is currently competing for the Black Caps in the World Cup, will join former captain Brendon McCullum in the tournament that begins in August.

The tournament is being co-hosted by Netherlands, Ireland and Scotland, and will feature six franchises from those respective nations, including teams from Dublin, Belfast, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Amsterdam and Rotterdam.

England ODI captain Eoin Morgan, former Pakistan allrounder Shahid Afridi, Australian Shane Watson and Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan have also been announced as "icon players".

"I am really excited to be a part of the inaugural Euro T20 Slam," Guptill said.

"All the content is creating a lot of hype and I am really lucky to be a part of the league this year."

The news comes around 24 hours after South Africa international Dale Steyn confirmed that he would also be taking part in the Europe-based competition.
