The Central Punjab batter complained of a pain in his shoulder during his side’s match with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa before being diagnosed with acute coronary syndrome in hospital
Abid Ali has undergone a second heart procedure after being taken to hospital during Central Punjab’s Quaid-e-Azam Trophy clash with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on December 18.
The 34-year-old complained of a pain in his shoulder while batting during the match and retired hurt on 61 before being taken for a medical assessment.
On December 21, Pakistan Cricket Board announced he had been diagnosed with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and would undergo an angioplasty – a procedure to open up blocked or narrowed arteries around the heart.
A second update was provided by the PCB stated Abid had undergone a second angioplasty on December 22 and was recovering well in hospital. He is expected to be discharged early next week.

Abid under went a second procedure today. The procedure was successfully completed and he is recovering.
PCB medical team is liaising with Interventional Cardiologist regarding further treatment and rehabilitation. Abid is currently stable.

"Abid Ali on Thursday commenced his rehabilitation. As part of his rehabilitation process, he did light walking in the morning without showing any discomfort. He will continue his rehab in the hospital until he is discharged early next week."
Since making his first-class debut in 2007, Abid Ali has scored over 9,000 runs at 41.31 in 130 appearances. He made his long-awaited Test debut against Sri Lanka in 2019 and has scored 1,180 runs at 49.16, including four centuries and three fifties, for the national side.
He also made six ODI appearances for Pakistan between 2019 and 2020, scoring 234 runs.
