Abid Ali is recovering in hospital after complaining of pain in the shoulder while batting in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.

Local reports initially said Abid felt the pain twice in hist chest during his innings for Central Punjab against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the UBL Cricket Ground in Karachi on Tuesday.

He retired hurt on 61 and was taken for medical assessment.

A PCB official told Dawn that Abid had felt pain in the "shoulder area" and experienced "uneasiness and heaviness".

The batsman has 16 Test caps to his name and feature in the recent two-Test tour of Bangladesh.

Pakistani outlets say Abid is now in a stable condition in hospital.
