ENGLAND

Jason Roy (0): Looks horribly out of nick – 93 runs in his last six innings in all cricket. Dragged a wide one on to his stumps with a shot that all of us club players can relate to 2

Jonny Bairstow (7): Tried to stick it out but even England's destroyer this summer received a ball with his name on it thanks to the brilliance of Bumrah 4

Joe Root (0): Ditto. He does like to late cut and dab wide ones down to third man. This time the ball got a bit big on him, thanks to Bumrah's awkward angles 3

Ben Stokes (0; 0-1): Had no answer to Mohammed Shami's fire on this occasion 3

Jos Buttler (30): Batted pretty well. A bit unlucky to pick out the fielder Suryakumar Yadav inches in front of the square-leg boundary. Not much you can do as a captain defending 110 5

Liam Livingstone (0): Played a strange shot, shuffling across, leaving his stumps exposed, as if it were the final overs of a T20. Still England became world champions by playing positively, I guess 3

Moeen Ali (14; 0-9): Tame dismissal after he'd got to 14. The Indian openers treated his two overs with a modicum of respect 4

David Willey (21; 0-8): Just about the pick of the attack which isn't saying much. Batted handily 5

Craig Overton (8; 0-34): Asking a lot of him with the ball. Played a couple of lovely clips through square 4

Brydon Carse (15; 0-38): Bowled too short. Played a couple of interestingly effective shots 3

Reece Topley (6; 0-22): Respectable figures. Reputation untarnished 6

INDIA

Rohit Sharma (76*): Chose wisely at the toss. Used Shami and Bumrah expertly. Pulled five sixes, accidentally hitting a youngster with one of them. Batted belligerently. Broadly brilliant 8.5

Shikhar Dhawan (31*): Circumspect compared to his partner but it hardly mattered a jot 6

Shreyas Iyer (DNB): N/A

Suryakumar Yadav (DNB): N/A

Rishabh Pant (DNB): Kept excellently, safely pouching three of the four danger men, two of them eye-catching one-handed takes 7.5

Hardik Pandya (0-22): A bit of a relief for England when he came on to bowl 4

Ravindra Jadeja (DNB): N/A

Mohammed Shami (3-31): Mean and menacing 8

Jasprit Bumrah (6-19): Magnificent for only his second ODI five-for. Bounce and menacing cramping angles. Loved his genial personality and smile in the press conference 9

Yuzvendra Chahal (0-10): Not much time to impress 4

Prasidh Krishna (1-26): Bowled a bit short, but the wicket of Moeen was useful, the knockout blow to England's victory hopes 6
