Lord's: England 247, India 147 - England won by 100 runs

Reece Topley recorded England's best white-ball bowling figures to help complete a 100-run thrashing of India to square the three-match one-day international series at Lord's.

The injury-hit Surrey left-armer returned 9.5-2-24-6, bettering Paul Collingwood's return of 6 for 31 against Bangladesh at Trent Bridge in 2005 as India were bowled out for 146.

Three years on to the day from their dramatic World Cup triumph at the same venue England were underwhelming with the bat, scoring just 246 with Moeen Ali top-scoring with 47 and David Willey hitting 41 - as the pair put on 62 for the seventh wicket.

Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal claimed 4 for 47, dismissing Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root and Ben Stokes, to put the tourists on top, but they should have dismissed England for much less than the 247 they eventually mustered in 49 overs after shelling several chances.

Nevertheless, they were odds-on to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series heading into the second half of the game.

But the tide turned as India were reduced to 31 for 4 in an instant, with Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant making ducks.

Topley was the pick of the bunch, bowling 48 dots, taking six wickets and going for just four boundaries.

Fellow left-armer David Willey was also frugal, conceding just 27 from his nine and picking up Virat Kohli in the 11th over.

The middle-order of Suryakumar Yadav (27), Hardik Pandya (29), Ravindra Jadeja (29) and Mohammed Shami (23) gave India brief hope but wickets continued to fall at a steady rate.

It was left to Topley to clean up the tail with two wickets from the final four balls of the match, bowling Chahal and then having Prasidh Krishna caught behind.

The series now moves to Old Trafford for the decider on Sunday (July 17).
