Jofra Archer has publicly called out a social media user who responded with racist remarks to a post he made online.

The England paceman received a pair of offensive comments from a viewer of a live video shared on his Instagram account on Monday morning, recorded during a pre-season net session at his county side Sussex.

Sharing a screenshot of the private messages on his Instagram story, the 24-year-old wrote: "I [have] given a lot of thought about reacting to this and I hope that no one else has to deal with stuff like this on a regular basis.

"It isn't ever acceptable and should be addressed properly in my opinion.

"I will never understand how people feel so [free] to say these things to another human being. It baffles me."

On Sunday, Archer was named Sportsman of the Year at the British Ethnic Diversity Sports Awards after an impressive maiden season on the international circuit saw him collect a World Cup winners' medal and three five-wicket hauls in his first seven Test matches.

However, the bowler had previously been subject to racist abuse from spectators during England's Test tour of New Zealand late last year.

A 28-year-old man identified as responsible for the abuse at the opening fixture in Mount Maunganui was later issued with a police warning and hit with a two-year ban from all domestic and international fixtures in the country.

Writing in his Daily Mail column at the time, Archer said: "I've left what happened at the ground and I've moved on. I should also say it was just one person who was shouting stuff.

"But I found the incident a real shame. When you come to another country, you half expect fans to have a go at your cricket. If someone wants to shout at me and tell me I'm bowling badly, that's fine. I may not agree but it's fine. It's part of the experience of being a touring cricketer.

"To hear racism, though — that's another matter. There is no time or place for it in any walk of life, let alone cricket. It's just not called for."
