Jonny Bairstow will face a fitness test ahead of the fourth ODI against Sri Lanka after twisting his ankle playing football in a warm-up before a training session.
The wicket-keeper batsman - who has scored 55 runs in the contest so far - was pictured hobbling away from the session and could now miss the penultimate match of the series in Kandy.
He will be assessed on Saturday morning with Alex Hales poised to replace him as a like-for-like replacement in the opening position.

Alternatively England could look to give Kent's Joe Denly the nod, over eight years since his last appearance in England colours.
In the second match of the series, Bairstow became the sixth Englishman to hit 1,000 runs in a calendar year.
England lead the five-game series 2-0 with two fixtures to come, at Kandy and Colombo.
