The India and Delhi Capitals batter will donate an initial 20 lakh and all money he earns from individual match awards
Shikhar Dhawan has joined the Covid-19 fundraising effort after donating 20 lakh (£19,503) amid the growing crisis in India.
The India and Delhi Capitals batter will also give all money won as part of individual performance awards during the rest of the Indian Premier League, which are worth 1 lakh (£975) each.
Dhawan's contributions will go towards 'Mission Oxygen', a fund that aims to improve supplies of oxygen concentrators.
Already twice a winner of player of the match awards during the 14th edition of the IPL, Dhawan is currently the tournament's second highest run-scorer on 311 from his seven matches.
Jaydev Unadkat, Nicholas Pooran, Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings are all contributing to the cause as infections and deaths from coronavirus continue to rise in the country.

"We are in unprecedented times right now, and it is the need of the hour that we do everything possible to help each other out," a statement via Dhawan's Twitter page read.
"Over the years I have received incredible love and support from all of you, for which I am eternally grateful. It is now my turn to give back to the people of this country.
"I will be making a donation of Rs 20 lakhs, plus money from all post-match individual performance awards that I receive from the IPL 2021 towards Mission Oxygen to help fund the requirement of oxygen.
"I would like to thank all the tireless frontline workers for their incredible service. We are forever in your debt.
"I also urge everyone to observe all health protocols - wear a mask, sanitise and maintain social distancing. Please step out only when necessary.
"Together, we will win."
