Indian Premier League 2021: Full squads
Delhi Capitals have signed Australian seamer Ben Dwarshuis as Chris Woakes’ replacement for the second half of the Indian Premier League.
Woakes is one of three English players to have withdrawn from the tournament for personal reasons in the last week, alongside Dawid Malan (Punjab Kings) and Jonny Bairstow (Sunrisers Hyderabad).
Dwarshuis, 27, is uncapped by Australia, and has taken 100 wickets in his 82-game T20 career at an average of 23.73, with a best of 4 for 13.
He represents Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash, where he is the sixth-highest wicket taker in the tournament’s history with 85 scalps, and most recently played for Worcestershire in the 2021 Vitality Blast.
Delhi Capitals are top of the IPL table, earning 12 points from their eight games prior to the tournament’s suspension on May 4 due to rising Covid-19 cases. Their season restarts against Sunrisers on September 22.
Dwarshuis will be linking up with Delhi in their bio-secure bubble in the UAE soon.
