Every game in the 2021 Caribbean Premier League is being held at Warner Park on St Kitts, in an effort to minimise the Covid-19 risk to the tournament.
Both sides won their opening matches of the 2021 CPL.
St Kitts & Nevis Patriots scored a healthy 175 for 5 with the bat against Barbados Royals before restricting their opponents to 154 for 7 to pick up a 21-run win.
Guyana Amazon Warriors defeated last season's champions Trinbago Knight Riders by nine runs, scoring 142 for 7 to Trinbago's 133 for 9. It was the Knight Riders' first defeat since 2019.
Last season, Guyana Amazon Warriors took the head to head 2-0, winning by three-wicket and seven-wicket margins.
Shimron Hetmyer scored a half-century for Guyana Amazon Warriors against Trinbago Knight Riders
Shimron Hetmyer was the star for Guyana with the bat against Trinbago Knight Riders, scoring 54 runs from 41 deliveries, including four fours and two sixes, to record the first half-century of the tournament. The West Indian has scored 985 runs in 37 appearances for the Warriors at a strike rate of 134.19.
Odean Smith picked up the player of the match gong in his side's season opener, scoring 24 runs from 15 deliveries and taking 2 for 10 with the ball. However, in Guyana's bowling attack, one player will immediately catch your eyes and that's Imran Tahir. The veteran South African, who is ranked 12th in the T20 Player Index, has 49 CPL wickets to his name from 33 appearances and has a career economy of 5.71 in the tournament. Oh, and his wicket celebration is iconic.
Chris Gayle is the obvious star in the St Kitts & Nevis squad, with 14,108 T20 runs and 109 50+ knocks to his name. However, for entertainment value alone, his teammate Fabian Allen may steal the show.
Allen, who has 28 T20I caps for West Indies, is a gun fielder, destructive middle order batsman and a handy left-arm spinner. In his side's season opener, he scored an unbeaten 17 from just nine balls, took the catch to dismiss Barbados wicketkeeper Shai Hope, and finished with figures of 1 for 12. He's everywhere.
