Trinidad: Barbados Royals 107-6, Guyana Amazon Warriors 81-9 - Barbados Royals win by 29 runs

Scorecard

Barbados Royals claimed their seventh win in eight games to extend their lead at the top of the Caribbean Premier League, beating bottom side Guyana Amazon Warriors.

In a game reduced to 16 overs per side, Royals were indebted to Jason Holder's unbeaten 40, coming off 33 balls and including three sixes, which dragged them to 107 for 6 after a stuttering start had reduced the table-toppers to 38 for 4 in the 10th over and 62 for 5 after 13, at which point the rain arrived to trim four overs off each innings.

The competition's leading run-scorer, Kyle Mayers, struggled to nine off 20 deliveries, while the South African trio of Quinton de Kock, Corbin Bosch and David Miller – all enjoying fine campaigns – contributed four runs between them, with both Bosch and de Kock falling without scoring.

When Miller fell for four to the penultimate ball of the 14th over, Barbados were 68 for 6 and in danger of setting a dismal total for their struggling opponents to chase.

But Holder and Mujeeb Ur Rahman mustered 39 runs in the last 13 balls of the innings, with Keemo Paul and Imran Tahir conceding 17 more runs in their combined five overs than Tabraiz Shamsi, Chandrapaul Hemraj and Junior Sinclair did in 10 overs.

In reply, on a difficult pitch for batting Mujeeb carried the momentum into a remarkable spell of bowling in which he conceded just four runs in four overs.

Fellow spinner Rahkeem Cornwall's three overs went for just 12, including the wickets of Hemraj and Shimron Hetmyer.

Hetmyer was one of three Guyana players to reach double figures, reaching 12 before being bowled by Cornwall. Odean Smith smashed 15 off six deliveries to top-score but otherwise Warriors' chase made for bleak watching. From 30 for 2, they stumbled to 81 for 9, succumbing to a 29-run defeat.
