Pretorius, 29, is set to be available for at least six County Championship fixtures, beginning with this week's trip to Surrey
Somerset have brought in South African seamer Migael Pretorius as a second overseas player, filling the void left by Will Sutherland's injury withdrawal ahead of the season.
Pretorius, 29, is set to be available for at least six County Championship fixtures, beginning with this week's trip to Surrey.
He is yet to make his Test debut but was included in a squad for a series against Sri Lanka in 2020, and he featured for Durham in three Division Two matches last summer, picking up two wickets and batting in the middle order.
"With Will Sutherland becoming unavailable due to injury, we wanted to make sure that we were able to bring in a similar kind of player," said Somerset director of cricket Andy Hurry.

"He is a quality player and very driven, so he will certainly add value and depth to our attack. There is a lot of cricket ahead of us, so it’s vital that we maximise the options that we have available to us."
Somerset are the second county in recent days to turn to South Africa for overseas reinforcements, following Kent's recruitment of Beyers Swanepoel for the season after Xavier Bartlett's withdrawal via Cricket Australia.
Pretorius has taken 165 first-class wickets at 25.83 apiece. "I enjoyed my time in England last summer and I want to show what I can do in the first division," he said.
Somerset drew their season opener at Kent after the first day was lost to rain.
