Cardiff (day one of four): Glamorgan 336-6, Derbyshire
Glamorgan claimed the ascendency at 336 for 6 as they still search for a first win in the Rothesay County Championship in 2025.
Young Jersey international Asa Tribe led the way with a proactive half century in his first start this season making Derbyshire bowlers toil in the first hour. Captain Sam Northeast and unbeaten Colin Ingram also passed fifty in experienced knocks to send the hosts past 300.
Frustrations for high-flyers Derbyshire as Luis Reece pulled up injured for a second consecutive game with a suspected hamstring problem after finding his form with two wickets in quick succession and Ingram was dropped twice, once on 32, again on 70.

Emirates Old Trafford (day one of four): Lancashire 342-5, Gloucestershire
Marcus Harris made his second century of the session to help Lancashire dominate the opening day of their Rothesay County Championship match against Gloucestershire.
The former Australia opener also became the first batter to pass fifty five times in his first seven innings in first-class cricket for the county and finished on 165 not out with Lancashire on 342 for 5 after opting to bat first on what now appears an easy-paced pitch.
Such an outcome looked unlikely after the impressive Ajeet Singh Dale had taken two wickets in his first ten balls to leave the home side on 23 for 2 but Harris shared partnerships of 98 with Josh Bohannon and 212 with Matty Hurst, who was caught behind by James Bracey off Zaman Akhter for 78 three overs before the close.

Leicester (day one of four): Leicestershire 304, Northamptonshire 6-0 - Northamptonshire trail by 298 runs with 10 wickets remaining
An impressive century from opener Rishi Patel rescued Division Two leaders Leicestershire on the opening day of their Rothesay County Championship against Northamptonshire.
In conditions that largely favoured the bowling side, Patel's 105 from 189 balls was key as Leicestershire recovered from 119 for 5 to total 304 at the Uptonsteel County Ground.
Australian paceman Harry Conway took 5 for 68 on his Northamptonshire debut, with veteran county stalwart Ben Sanderson finishing with 3 for 62 on his first appearance of the season after injury. Their side are six without loss after facing five overs at the close.
Patel hit 14 fours and a six in a performance that combined flair with patience and there were useful contributions from Leicestershire's lower order, led by Ben Green's 39, after Northamptonshire skipper Luke Procter had chosen to bowl first.

Lord's (day one of four): Kent 129, Middlesex 158-4 - Middlesex lead by 29 runs with six wickets remaining
Toby Roland-Jones' latest five-wicket haul gave Middlesex the edge on a bowler-dominated opening day against Kent at Lord's.
The evergreen former England seamer took 5 for 33, the 33rd time in his career he'd achieved a five-wicket haul as the visitors were skittled for 129.
Tawanda Muyeye top-scored with 29, but Zak Crawley's poor run of scores continued as he made only six.
Kent though hit back with ball in hand on an unusually sporty Lord's pitch, offering both seam and a hint of turn, George Garrett taking 2 for 39 as the hosts reached 158 for 4 at stumps with Ryan Higgins 44 not out.
