Essex's T20 Blast title ambitions have been boosted by the news that overseas allrounder Daniel Sams will be available for the entire competition.

The Australian had originally been contracted for just the first eight group matches due to pre-existing commitments to other leagues.

His improved availability includes September's knockout stage, should Essex qualify.

Sams was crowned MVP for the 2023 T20 Blast after scoring 419 runs with a strike rate of 173.14 and taking 25 wickets in 17 matches, topping Essex's batting and bowling charts in the process.

He steered the Eagles to the final, where he took 1 for 26 and scored 45 (26) in a 14-run defeat against Somerset.

Over the course of his T20 career, Sams has scored over 1,800 runs at a strike rate above 150 and taken 207 wickets.

In the T20 Blast, he has 584 runs at a strike rate of 172.78 and 39 wickets with an economy of 8.67 in 29 outings, all of which have come for Essex.
