Derby (day two of four): Derbyshire, Gloucestershire - no play due to rain

Derbyshire and Gloucestershire endured another day of frustration when no play was possible in the Vitality County Championship match at Derby.

After Friday's washout, the ground was still too wet for the Division Two fixture to start on the second day.

Despite bright sunshine and a strong wind helping dry the outfield, weeks of rain leading up to the game left conditions unfit for first-class cricket.

The teams and umpires will now hope there is no further rain overnight and that the game can finally get underway on day three.

Lord's (day two of four): Glamorgan 620-3d, Middlesex 138-1 - Middlesex are 482 runs behind with nine first-inngings wickets remaining

Sam Northeast eclipsed Graham Gooch's record individual first-class score at Lord's with a majestic unbeaten 335 as his Glamorgan side continued to dominate their Vitality County Championship opener against Middlesex.

The new Glamorgan skipper struck 36 fours and six sixes in a marathon knock of almost nine hours, becoming the first player in the county's history to register a triple century twice and enabling them to post their best total against Middlesex, a commanding 620 for 3 declared.

Overtaking Gooch's effort of 333 for England in the 1990 Lord's Test against India, the 34-year-old shared an unbroken fourth-wicket stand of 299 with Colin Ingram, who finished 132 not out.

Mark Stoneman hit a defiant undefeated 62 in response as Middlesex reached stumps on 138 for 1, still trailing their opponents by 482.

Hove (day two of four): Northamptonshire 292-7 v Sussex

Sussex and Northants finished the second day of their Vitality County Championship Division Two game with honours even at Hove.

Northants were 292 for 7 at the close and with more time lost to rain and bad light a draw is the favourite result.

Captain Luke Proctor led the way with 92 and Karun Nair added 57 in a partnership worth 111.

The visitors continued to be in debt to Jayden Seales, who added George Barlett to his day one haul, while James Coles took 2 for 19.

Headingley (day two of four): Leicestershire 354, Yorkshire 72-2 - Yorkshire are 282 runs behind with eight first-innings wickets remaining

Ben Mike returned to haunt his former county Yorkshire with a brilliant counter-attacking 90 as Leicestershire's lower order carried their side to a first-innings 354 on day two at Headingley.

This was another weather-shortened day of this Vitality County Championship opener, play only starting at 1.40pm due to a wet outfield - two hours earlier than day one.

Yorkshire held sway overnight with the visitors at 164 for 5, and three wickets inside the first 75 minutes strengthened their position. Seamer Matt Milnes claimed two of them on the way to 4 for 73.

However, all-rounder Mike impressively led the revival from 215 for 8, sharing a record ninth-wicket stand of 119 either side of tea with tail-ender Tom Scriven, who contributed a valuable 56.
