Caleb Jewell and Wayne Madsen achieved personal milestones to drive Derbyshire to a record-breaking score before Kent fought back on the second day of the County Championship Division Two match at Derby.
Australian opener Jewell made a career-best 232 from 361 balls out of 587 for 5 declared, Derbyshire's highest ever total against Kent.
Madsen scored 100, the Derbyshire captain's 40th first-class century for the county, out of a third wicket stand of 176 with Jewell before Luis Reece plundered an unbeaten half-century
The Kent bowling figures made for sorry reading with leg spinner Matt Parkinson becoming the first to concede 200 runs in an innings against Derbyshire, eclipsing a record which had stood for 121 years.

Cardiff (day two of four): Glamorgan 383, Middlesex 155 - Middlesex trail Glamorgan by 228 runs
Glamorgan dominated day two to enforce a Middlesex follow-on overnight, seeking a third consecutive win inside three days.
Andy Gorvin starred with the ball once again for Glamorgan with 4 for 39, including two wickets in two balls to reduce Middlesex to 155 all out, trailing by 228 runs.
Max Holden's strong start to the season continued with a top-scoring 42 for the visitors after a number of starts failed to kick on in favourable bowling conditions. Middlesex batters were relieved of batting for the second time in the same day as a second rain-interruption brought an early close.

Leicester (day two of four): Lancashire 206, Leicestershire 457 - Leicestershire lead by 251 runs
A record-breaking partnership between Rehan Ahmed and Lewis Hill saw league-leading Leicestershire establish a dominant position at the end of the second day of the County Championship match against Lancashire at the Uptonsteel County Ground.
Ahmed, with his first-class best of 136, and Hill, whose 119 was his first three-figure score for two seasons, put on 256 for the third wicket, a championship-best for Leicestershire's third wicket against Lancashire, beating a record dating back to 1929.
Lancashire's bowlers stuck at their task, picking up seven wickets throughout the afternoon and evening sessions, but a half-century from all-rounder Ian Holland helped the Foxes close with an intimidating 251-run lead.
They also picked up all five batting bonus points, completing a maximum bonus point return from the game.

Northampton (day two of four): Northamptonshire 327-6, Gloucestershire 146-4 - Gloucestershire trail by 313 runs with six wickets remaining
Northamptonshire leg-spinner Calvin Harrison followed up a career-best knock of 63 with two wickets to keep his side in control of their County Championship clash against Gloucestershire at Wantage Road.
Harrison, on loan from Nottinghamshire, shared a ninth-wicket partnership of 90 with Liam Guthrie as the home side posted a daunting total of 469, built around Saif Zaib's career-high 159.
Visiting captain Cameron Bancroft defied Northamptonshire with a gritty 60 – his first half-century in seven innings – while Miles Hammond hit a more pugnacious 51, but both fell shortly before stumps to leave Gloucestershire 156 for 4, still 164 short of the follow-on target.
Harrison finished the day with 2 for 40, with Luke Procter and Harry Conway picking up a wicket apiece.
