Southampton (day two of four): Worcestershire 679-7 dec, Hampshire 68-3 - Hampshire trail by 611 runs with seven wickets remaining

Jake Libby achieved his second career Rothesay County Championship double century as Worcestershire compiled the third-highest first-class score in their history.

Stand-in captain Libby batted throughout a 10-hour vigil to secure a personal best 228, while underpinning his side's vast 679 for 7 declared.

His double century was paired with Adam Hose's on day one – making it the first time two Worcestershire batters had passed 200 in an innings, while Gareth Roderick's 80 kept him company for much of day two.

The declaration at tea left Hampshire 32 overs until close, and during the evening managed to lose their top three on a lifeless pitch to end the day on 68 for three – an ominous 611 in arrears.

Hove (day two of four): Warwickshire 415, Sussex 278-3 - Sussex trail by 137 runs with seven wickets remaining

Daniel Hughes made a season's best 151 before departing to the last ball of the second day as Sussex made a strong response to Warwickshire's 415 in the Rothesay County Championship.

The 36-year-old Australian left-hander was lbw to off-spinner Corey Rocchiccioli off the penultimate delivery of the second day as Sussex reached 278 for 3.

Hughes had shared an opening partnership of 98 with Tom Haines and then added 142 with James Coles as the combination of a flat pitch, a Kookaburra ball doing little off the straight, and the pitiless Hove heat made it a tough day for Warwickshire's attack.

Rocchiccioli toiled away manfully, bowling unchanged for two sessions apart from a solitary over, from the sea end to pick up all three Sussex wickets for 94 from 35 overs.
