Cameron Bancroft’s secret life as the kazoo player for Australian band Tame Impala…

Cameron Bancroft recently made his return to professional cricket after a nine-month ban for his part in the ball-tampering scandal, but that isn’t the only return Australian broadcaster Channel Seven mistakenly believe he has made.

As part of the bio included on-screen while Bancroft readied himself at the crease while batting for the Perth Scorchers against the Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash, there appeared a line that he “recently returned to band ‘Tame Impala’ as the Kazoo player”.

To make matters worse, they even featured a mocked-up image of Bancroft performing on stage which was included in the original report on the Australian satirical website the Betoota Advocate.

According to the report, Bancroft apparently left the group in 2011 to focus on cricket, but was looking to make a return during his time off in April 2018.

Tame Impala are a popular Australian band known for tracks like Keep on Lying, The Less I Know The Better (apparently a favourite of Steve Smith’s), and New Person, Same Old Mistakes.

“We were pretty kazoo-heavy those days. Some nights, we used to let Cameron solo for like 20 minutes. It was a crazy time,” Tame Impala lead singer Kevin Parker was quoted as saying by the Advocate.

Naturally, their hardworking journalists were quick to highlight the shameless theft of their scoop.

“Once again, the mainstream media feels entitled enough to repackage our journalism and republish at as their own,” they wrote on an Instagram post.
