The cull of administrative personnel continues apace at Cricket Australia, with high performance manager Pat Howard the latest step down from his post.

Howard was due to remain with the governing body until 2019 but will leave his post early following the scathing Ethics Centre review into Australian cricketing culture.

Belinda Clark, the former captain of the Australia women's team, will fill the position in the interim until a replacement is appointed on a long-term basis next year.

"It is clear that we need to deepen our relationships with fans, players and the broader cricket community," Cricket Australia chief executive Kevin Roberts said.

"We are committed to making cricket stronger and developing closer connections with the community and greater alignment across the organisation. Everyone at CA is focused on rebuilding and moving forward after what has been a turbulent year in Australian cricket."

Howard follows in the footsteps of chairman David Peever and director Mark Taylor in resigning from a senior role at Cricket Australia in the wake of the Longstaff review.

The highly-critical report described the organisation as "arrogant" and "controlling", and criticised the employment of a "win-at-all-costs mentality".

Former chief exec James Sutherland resigned in the aftermath of the ball-tampering scandal in Cape Town in March, which precipitated the Ethics Centre investigation.

Meanwhile, Ben Amarfio, the governing body's executive general manager of broadcasting and commercial who played a key role in the controversial recent sale of TV rights to Foxtel, has quit.
