The former Pakistan international allrounder is currently on the books of Multan Sultans
Shahid Afridi has suggested he is ready to retire at the end of next year's Pakistan Super League.
The former Pakistan international allrounder is currently on the books of Multan Sultans but has made it clear he wants to make the move to Quetta Gladiators ahead of the new campaign, which is expected to begin in January.
He told reporters: "Maybe this ends up being my last PSL. I would like to play for Quetta Gladiators this season, provided Multan allow me to leave. If Nadeem Omar and Quetta's owners want to have me, I would love to represent them."
Afridi last played for the national side in 2016 but remains among the most iconic cricket figures in his homeland.
Shahid Afridi wants to leave Multan Sultans
He has represented three franchises in the PSL - Karachi Kings, Peshawar Zalmi and the Sultans - taking a total of 50 appearances in the competition.
Quetta owner Nadeem Omar has previously said he is keen to sign Afridi for the 2022 season.
"We are hopeful that Shahid Afridi will be part of Quetta Gladiators in HBL PSL 7. We will be really happy if that happens," he said.
"Afridi played a key part in the promotion of the Kashmir Premier League. Despite being unfit in the final, he fought hard and led his team to the title."
