England's World Cup-winning captain will be joined by Pakistan and Somerset batsman Babar Azam for the Irish side
England's World Cup-winning captain Eoin Morgan will represent Dublin Chiefs in the inaugural edition of the Euro T20 Slam, it has been announced.
Morgan will be joined at the Irish side by Pakistan and Somerset batsman Babar Azam, who is currently no.1 in the ICC T20I batting rankings.
The duo head a list of some of the most internationally recognised stars for the competition, which starts at the end of next month.
Pakistan's representation has been boosted by the involvement of Mohammad Amir, Shaheen Afridi and Hasan Ali, who have joined the Dublin side, Rotterdam Rhinos and Amsterdam Knights respectively.
Fakhar Zaman will join Afridi in Rotterdam, while there is also a strong Kiwi presence with Matt Henry, Corey Anderson and Martin Guptill and former New Zealand internationals Luke Ronchi and Brendon McCullum all being picked up.
Afghanistan's Rashid Khan will also play for the Rhinos, and Dale Steyn will head to Scotland to represent Glasgow.
Players from Ireland, Scotland and Netherlands have been allocated between the teams in their own countries, with Morgan joined in Dublin by Ireland's big-hitting allrounder Kevin O'Brien. Paul Stirling, meanwhile, will play in his hometown of Belfast alongside former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi.
Edinburgh have also put together a lineup of big-hitters, with Guptill, Anderson and Chris Lynn all plying their trade in Scotland, alongside local international stars Kyle Coetzer and Calum MacLeod, both of whom played a key role in Scotland's ODI win over England in 2018.
In the other Scottish franchise, McCullum is the standout name in a side also featuring Steyn, as well as former England batsman Ravi Bopara and Afghanistan leg-spinner Qais Ahmad.
