Chadd Sayers, the one-time Australia Test player, has confirmed his retirement from first-class cricket.

The 33-year-old will play his final game for South Australia Redbacks against Victoria over the Easter weekend.

His 84 domestic red-ball outings have yielded 319 wickets at 26.48.

Sayers made his one and only Test outing against South Africa during the infamous Cape Town match in March 2018. He dismissed AB de Villiers and Kagiso Rabada in the space of three deliveries but was overlooked for further opportunities.

"I believe the timing is now right for me to step away from first-class cricket at the conclusion of this season," he said.

"I have enjoyed every moment, the highs and lows, and all the memories in between, but I feel that it is time - I now have a young family and there were no guarantees of a contract next year.

"It has been an absolute honour to play for my home state of South Australia all this time, and I'm looking forward to taking the field with the lads one last time this weekend."
