On his debut against Surrey at Lord's, Cracknell pulled Jamie Overton for a six that only narrowly missed hitting the ground's Father Time weathervane
Middlesex batsman Joe Cracknell has signed a new three-year contract with the county.
The right-hander has come to prominence through his performances in the T20 Blast and was called up by London Spirit as a replacement for Dan Lawrence in The Hundred when the Essex man was picked by England.
On his debut against Surrey at Lord’s, he pulled Jamie Overton for a six that only narrowly missed hitting the ground’s Father Time weathervane.
Cracknell’s extended deal will see him remain at his boyhood club through to at least the end of the 2024 season.
He said: “It’s exciting times at Middlesex as we have such a talented group of players, and although performances haven’t shown what we’re capable of as a squad, committing to the club means we now have the opportunity to turn it around – a challenge I know that not only myself, but everyone, is looking forward to.”
He follows teammate Ethan Bamber, with whom he has played at club level since their youth, in agreeing a contract extension.
His maiden half century came last year against Kent at Canterbury, following it up this year with fifties at Radlett against Hampshire and Gloucestershire.
In fifteen T20 appearances to date, he has hit 404 runs at a strike rate of over 140 and averages just under 27.
Middlesex head coach Stuart Law added: “He is an exceptional talent. An explosive batsman that takes the game on, with an attitude of wanting to dominate. He fits in well to our game plan.
“In a short space of time he has already shown us that he has an important role to play in our white-ball sides, and I am really looking forward to working closely with him and to seeing his game develop throughout this next stage of his career.”
