The West Indies batter and Indian spinning allrounder were the standout arrivals for SRH who will look to add batters on day two
Nicholas Pooran and Washington Sundar were the big-money additions for Sunrisers Hyderabad during the opening exchanges in the IPL mega auction.
Last season's bottom-placed side had the biggest purse to work with ahead of the weekend.
They initially sat back and allowed their rivals to scoop up the marquee players and those in the second set.
It took until the third set for them to make a significant move, signing Washington Sundar for 8.75 crore (£789,022).
After a number of premier batting options passed them by, they eventually plumped for the West Indies' Nicholas Pooran, who has endured an up and down IPL career.
Alongside the new faces were a handful of familiar ones in the form of the fit-again T Natarajan for 4 crore (£390,847), Bhuvneshwar Kumar at 4.2 crore (£392,801) and J Suchith (20 lakhs, £19,542).
Bringing back Abhishek Sharma was also a priority, with Sunrisers seeing off interest from Gujarat Titans.

Thirty-year-old Rahul Tripathi links up with his fourth IPL franchise after Chennai Super Kings baulked at the 8.50 crore asking price.
Some of SRH's work came in the latter stages of day one of the auction, with Shreyas Gopal (75 lakhs) and Kartik Tyagi (4 crore) and Priyam Garg (20 lakh) being signed up with little opposition.
Though there were some failed bids, with the likes of Rahul Chahar (Punjab Kings), Avesh Khan (Lucknow Super Giants), Deepak Chahar (CSK) falling by the wayside, Sunrisers have much to do on day two.
Kane Williamson, who is currently nursing an elbow problem, Abdul Samad and Umran Malik had been retained following the end of last season.
