Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant has been fined his entire match fee following his reaction to the no-ball controversy in defeat to Rajasthan Royals.

Assistant Pravin Amre has also been docked his entire match fee and banned for one match, while Shardul Thakur has been fined 50 per cent.

Pant and Thakur admitted to Level 2 offences under Articles 2.7 and 2.8, respectively, of the IPL code of conduct.

Amre meanwhile accepted a Level 2 charge under Article 2.20.

The reprimands follow the angry reaction to the failure to give a no-ball for what appeared to be a waist-high delivery from Obed McCoy in the final over in Mumbai.

Rovman Powell hit the delivery for six, his third in a row, in pursuit of the 36 needed for victory in the final over.

But the Capitals were left fuming after neither of the on-field umpires Nikhil Patwardhan and Nitin Menon spotted the illegal delivery.

It would have given the Capitals an extra run, a free hit and a major boost as they looked to chase down the 223 target set by Royals, who would eventually win by 15 runs.

The decision provoked outrage both in the middle and on the sidelines. Pant at one point appeared to ask for his batters Powell and Kuldeep Yadav to leave the field.

Assistant Amre then ran onto the field to speak to the officials, while reserve umpire Rasdashiv Iyer was also surrounded by the dugout by several individuals including Thakur.

Capitals wanted the third umpire to intervene on the decision, a demand 23-year-old Pant confirmed during the post-match presentation.

The rules state the third umpire is only able to influence no-ball decisions if the delivery ends with a wicket.

The incident evoked memories of MS Dhoni marching onto the outfield during Chennai Super Kings' match with the Royals in 2019. On that occasion, he was docked 50 per cent of his match fee.

It is the latest blow to a Capitals side who have been hit by a Covid-19 outbreak over the past week, forcing their last two matches to be moved from Pune to Mumbai.

Head coach Ricky Ponting was absent from the match after having to observe a mandatory five-day isolation period after a family member tested positive.

On Wednesday (April 20), Tim Seifert became the sixth member of the party to contract the virus, joining a group including Australia allrounder Mitchell Marsh and physio Patrick Farhart.
