The 31-year-old was signed by Gujarat Titans for his base price of 2 crore (£198,000) at February's auction
Jason Roy has pulled out of the 2022 Indian Premier League citing bubble fatigue.
The 31-year-old was signed by new franchise Gujarat Titans for his base price of 2 Crore (£198,000) at February’s auction. The Titans are yet to announce his replacement.
Roy has already played 11 T20 matches in 2022, travelling to West Indies for England’s five-match T20I series in January before joining up with Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League. He made a mark on the latter competition, scoring 303 runs, including one century and two half-centuries, in six appearances.
The England international now wishes to take a break from globetrotting and bubble environments to "spend some quality time with my family."

In a statement released across social media, Roy said: "It’s with a heavy heart I have decided to pull out of this year’s tournament. I want to thank the management and captain Hardik [Pandya] for putting your faith in me and picking me in the auction.
"However, with everything going on in the world over the last three years, it’s added up and taken its toll on me. I feel it’s only right I spend some quality time with my family as well as spending time working on myself and my game over the next couple of months leading into a very busy year.
"I will be following each game of the Titans and backing them to lift the trophy in their first year of the tournament."
Roy has previously represented Gujarat Lions, Delhi Daredevils and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL, scoring 329 runs in 13 appearances. His departure represents a sizeable blow for the Titans, who were likely banking on Roy joining Shubman Gill and Matthew Wade at the top of the order.
The 2022 IPL is scheduled to run from March 26 to May 29.
