Chahar, who was the second-most expensive player at the 2022 mega auction, suffered a quadricep tear against West Indies in February
Deepak Chahar’s participation in the 2022 Indian Premier League is in doubt due to injury.
The 29-year-old was the second-most expensive player at the 2022 mega auction after being re-signed by Chennai Super Kings for 14 crore (£1.4million).
However, the medium-pace bowler suffered a quadricep tear during India’s white-ball series against West Indies in February which could take several weeks to heal.
He is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
The 2022 IPL is scheduled to run from March 26 to May 29.

Chahar’s absence would be a huge blow for Chennai Super Kings – and not only because of the expense they went to to defeat Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals in a bidding war.
A talented swing bowler, he has taken 59 wickets in 63 IPL appearances to date, 42 of which have come in the powerplay, and has a tournament economy of 7.8.
Last season, he was a key player as CSK reached the final, taking 14 wickets in 15 appearances – the second-most on the team.
He's also no slouch with the bat, possessing a T20 strike rate of 129.86. He showcased his skills in recent ODIs, scoring two half-centuries, including a rapid 34-ball 54 against South Africa, in his past three innings.
