The Chennai Super Kings pair crash 17 sixes between them in a third-wicket stand worth 165 to see off RCB
Mumbai: Chennai Super Kings 216-4, Royal Challengers Bangalore 193-9 - Chennai Super Kings won by 23 runs
A dramatic acceleration from Chennai Super Kings pair Shivam Dube (95*) and Robin Uthappa (88) proved pivotal as the defending champions got off the mark at the fifth time of asking in the Indian Premier League with victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Coming together with CSK 36 for 2 in the seventh over, they crashed 17 sixes between them and put on 165 for the third wicket.
The 156 they helped accumulate in the final 10 overs was the third-most in IPL history.
It was a damaging night for the RCB attack, with Akash Deep going for 58 from his fourth overs.
The chase looked doomed to fail when the 2009 and 2011 champions lost three wickets in the powerplay and were reduced to 50 for 4 in the seventh over.

Jadeja kept his cool on the boundary to dismiss Karthik and end RCB's ambitions of victory (BCCI)
Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli departed in single figures to leave RCB's hopes hanging by a thread.
The middle order did come to the party to rebuild the innings. Glenn Maxwell (26), Shahbaz Ahmed (41), Suyash Prabhudessai (34) and Dinesh Karthik (34) all made quick runs but it was never likely to be enough.
Eighty-four were needed from 34 balls when Ahmed departed and after captain Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Wanindu Hasaranga and Deep in the space of three balls victory was within sight.
Karthik lashed successive maximums off Mukesh Choudhary but he picked out Jadeja on the boundary off the bowling of Dwayne Bravo any faint hope faded.
The victory sees CSK finally off the mark after losing their opening four matches, while RCB now have two defeats to go alongside their three wins.
