The Tigers want to begin their tournament preparations next week but not without their vice-captain, who is currently with Sunrisers Hyderabad
Shakib Al Hasan has been recalled by Bangladesh from the Indian Premier League ahead of the World Cup.
The Tigers want the 32-year-old, who was included in the 15- man squad announced for the tournament on Tuesday, to be fully involved in preparations.
That includes being part of the training camp which is due to start on April 22 - which would see him miss the end of the IPL with Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Bangladesh begin their campaign against South Africa on June 2 at The Oval.
“We’ve decided to ask Shakib to join us before that," said cricket board president Nasmul Hassan. "I haven’t spoken to Shakib about the matter yet.
"But we want him back from IPL and join the camp. I have asked to send a letter to Shakib immediately to come back. Let’s see how he responds to this.
IPL
Shakib has only featured once in the Sunrisers' seven IPL games, in the six-wicket defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders on March 24. Having not batted, he took 1-42 with the ball.
Dinesh Karthik's side are currently sixth in the standings with three wins with seven remaining until the knock-out stage begins in May. Their next game is against Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday.
He is the only member of the Bangladesh World Cup squad involved in the franchise tournament but is expected to be key to their campaign.
Despite missing the one-day series loss to New Zealand in February, Shakib is the second highest ranked allrounder in the 50-over game and has scored 5,577 runs in the format, and taken 247 wickets.
