Talent Cricket Young Player of the Month: Joel Cox

Leg-spinning 14 year-old Joel Cox has been named as the Talent Cricket Young Player of the Month for his allrounder performances for club, school and county

Joel Cox, a leg-spinning allrounder, has enjoyed a remarkable run of form, taking four five wicket hauls in consecutive weeks for Bredon 2nd XI and Malvern College U14s.

Born in Canada, Joel is from a strong cricketing family. Both his father and grandfather were keen players while brothers Ollie (15, listed in the honours board below) and Toby (11) are also very capable cricketers.

His intelligent use of variation, flight and speed make him an incredibly tricky bowler to decipher.

Joel's bowling is not the entire story. He made 94 opening the batting for Worcestershire against Bedfordshire and 55 against Gloucestershire in the same position.

The 14-year-old is a recipient of the Chesterton Scholarship at Malvern, which recognises outstanding talent and potential in cricket.

Despite being only 14 he has represented the school 1st XI, and took a wicket with his first ball.
