England captain Joe Root has reached 6,000 Test runs
Joe Root became the fourth-fastest England batsman to 6,000 Test runs on day one against India at Edgbaston.
Root hit the landmark in his 70th Test and 127th innings on Wednesday.
Only Wally Hammond, Len Hutton and Ken Barrington have reached the milestone in fewer visits to the crease for England, although Barrington's haul came from more matches (72) and Hammond's from the same number.

Root got to the 6,000 mark on Wednesday afternoon
Root is the 15th Englishman to have made 6,000 Test runs for the country and one of only four to average more than 50 while doing so. Hammond, Hutton and Barrington are the others.
His record stands above other modern greats such as Kevin Pietersen, who reached 6,000 Test runs in his 128th innings, and Alastair Cook, who got there in 131 knocks.
The captain saw his career run county ticket past the 6,000 barrier when moving to 43 with an outside edge off Ravichandran Ashwin just after lunch at Edgbaston.
Having arrived at the crease early, following Ravichandran Ashwin's dismissal of Cook with the hosts' score on 26, he helped steady the ship thanks to a half-century partnership with Keaton Jennings.
