England bowler has been his country's top performer in Perth despite the injury
Craig Overton has played through the pain of a cracked rib in Perth, it has been revealed.
The England seamer was seen wincing during the second day's play in the third Ashes Test on Friday, after falling flat on his chest in an attempt at taking a caught and bowled chance off Usman Khawaja, and had to be withdrawn from the attack for a short period.
Reports in Australia say the injury was initially caused by a Pat Cummins bouncer during the second Test in Adelaide.
He was seen to by England's medical team and underwent a scan on Saturday morning, which showed he had sustained a hairline fracture.
However, Overton declared himself fit to continue following a net session prior to the third day's action and turned out to be England's most impressive bowler during two hugely frustrating sessions at the WACA.
Steve Smith and Mitchell Marsh both reached their centuries as Australia piled on the runs to open up a first-innings lead with six wickets remaining.
