Victory in Johannesburg by 191 runs secured a 3-1 success, the first under the new partnership at the top of the men's Test team
England captain Joe Root and coach Chris Silverwood believe the Test series win over South Africa was vindication for the new blueprint which underpins the team.
Victory on day four in Johannesburg clinched a 3-1 success, after a victory by 191 runs over Faf du Plessis' side.
It was the first series win achieved under the Root-Silverwood axis, following on from defeat in New Zealand.
Root has been thrilled to see his squad, bolstered with players young and old, follow the philosophy which he believes can be transferable all over the world.
"It has been really pleasing," he told Sky Sports.
"We've had a strong belief in the way we want to play and seeing the guys going out to be able to deliver that and know that it is going to work.
PLAYER RATINGS: Mark Wood dazzles and Joe Root leads from the front in Johannesburg
"Seeing it work in this part of the world means it should carry through everywhere else we go gives a huge amount of confidence to everyone.
"It is nice to see that everything we've put in place and we're doing the right things.
Silverwood's spell at the helm, after being promoted from his role as bowling coach, began with a loss in New Zealand and the writing appeared to be on the wall when England were thumped in the first Test at Centurion.
"The journey we've been on," said the ex-Essex coach. "The journey to the first Test and the result is really pleasing.
"We started something in New Zealand and that has built. The blueprint: big first-innings runs and learning to take 20 wickets with the kookaburra.
"To see it come to fruition here is obviously really pleasing. Equally, to see the youngsters coming through put their hands up is pleasing."
Moeen Ali has not played for England since the first Ashes Test last August
After the upcoming one-day international and T20I series, attention turns to the two Tests in Sri Lanka.
The make up the squad could be vastly different to the one selected to face South Africa, with the need for quick bowlers naturally reduced.
And with a lack of genuine spin options, an offer will again be made to Moeen Ali to return after he took an indefinite break from red-ball cricket.
"There has to be a conversation," said Silverwood of the Worcestershire allrounder who has been included in the white-ball squads.
"So we know what we're selecting from when we go into that selection meeting with Ed (Smith, chief selector).
"We've got to consider everything. We've got talent with us out see but we've also got talent on the outside which we have to consider."
