Dom Bess has ended his long hunt for a sofa

England spinner Dom Bess has had his long-running sofa hunt saga finally ended thanks to the help of a local furniture store.

The 21-year-old, who made his England Test debut against Pakistan at Lord’s in May, previously told the story of his sofa-related issues – the Somerset bowler having a furniture shopping trip cut short thanks to the phone call of Ed Smith informing him that he’d been called up to the national side for the first time.

Now, Bess could make amends with the help of Potburys of Sidmouth who invited the off-spinner to browse their store and find the right seat for him. Thankfully for Dom, he was able to make the purchase this time round.

On the sofa purchase, Bess told Sidmouth Herald: “This time around without any phone calls to distract me and with assistance from the helpful staff at Potburys I was finally able to find a sofa for my new house.

“I’m really pleased with my choice and grateful to Potburys for their kind gesture.”

Potburys’ managing director, Michael Lee told Sidmouth Herald: “It’s fantastic for Sidmouth to see its home grown young sporting talent gain national recognition so as a key business in the town it was a pleasure to help Dom furnish his new home.”

With his mind now at ease, Dom can once again focus fully on matters cricket.
