Lancashire say Simon Kerrigan will assist its coaches "across all levels from first team to representative age-group cricket for the immediate future"
Lancashire spinner Simon Kerrigan is to focus on coaching
Simon Kerrigan is to take a step back from playing at Lancashire, with the county announcing he will "focus on a wider involvement in the game during the coming season".
Kerrigan, 28, has struggled for form in recent years and made just two first-class appearances for Lancashire in 2017.
He has not featured for the county so far this year and, following consultations with club officials, will now turn his attentions to coaching.
The spinner, who made one Test appearance for England in 2013, will still remain on the playing staff at Old Trafford.

Kerrigan has been struggling for form
"My form hasn't been at the level that it needs to be for a while now and after discussions with head coach Glen Chapple and the cricket management team at the club, we have all agreed that I will remain part of the playing squad and assist with coaching across all areas of Lancashire cricket for the time being," Kerrigan said.
Lancashire say Kerrigan will assist its coaches "across all levels from first team to representative age-group cricket for the immediate future".
Lancashire director of vricket Paul Allott said: "We respect Simon’s situation and the Club are committed and eager to support him in the coaching opportunities that will present themselves across the county this coming summer, and to help him return to what he feels is an acceptable level of form."
Kerrigan was awarded his county cap five years ago, having played a major role in the 2011 Championship triumph.
He spent a spell out on loan at Northamptonshire last season, where he claimed 12 wickets in four matches.
